About Cimeron

Cimeron

Cimeron Morrissey is Animal Planet’s “2007 Cat Hero of the Year.” She’s dedicated to helping animals in need and is an award-winning magazine writer, animal rescuer, and the co-founder of an innovative world-renowned homeless animal program called Project Bay Cat. As the creator of the popular and award-winning newsletter, Cat Tales, and as a member of the board of directors of Homeless Cat Network (HCN), a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue group, Cimeron works with organizations around the country to help save animals of all kinds, and promote humane solutions for decreasing pet homelessness.

Among her most proud accomplishments, she co-created and manages a high profile cat rescue program called Project Bay Cat. Project Bay Cat is a wonderfully successful, precedent-setting animal rescue effort in the San Francisco Bay Area that has become a model program that others around the world are following. The program is an example she uses to educate thousands of people about the benefits and effectiveness of humane feral cat management and showing kindness to all animals.

Cimeron is a member of the Cat Writer’s Association and writes for several national and international magazines. She also has a bi-monthly column in Cat Fancy called “Foster Focus,” which celebrates the incredible life-saving work of foster parents and animal rescuers throughout the country.

Cimeron’s name means “feral”, which makes her wonder if she was born to do this work.

When she’s not helping animals, she’s kiteboarding with her husband and friends, traveling the world in search of exotic adventures and celebrating life.
